Rob was the go-to adult Cardiologist that "paeds" trainees like me would be sent to to try to bash some "proper" Cardiology into us (which as paediatric cardiologists we knew nothing of..) What struck me most was his easy, kind bedside manner. He was unwaveringly patient as a teacher. Over the years, whenever I'd bump into him- coffee in hand- he'd always say "hello stranger" as if you'd been away- and chit chat about Yorkshire and cycling, a passion he knew I shared. We will miss him sorely.
