I first worked with Rob 30 years ago on the SJUH RMO rota. Rob was only 3 years older than me but was infinitely wiser and a calming influence. He was a rare clinician- compassionate, curious and pragmatic. He was also very personable, and had a way of making you feel that you were one of his best friends. He always called me Ginny – I hate this abbreviation of my name, but he was the only person that I never had the heart to correct, because he was so lovely.
