Rob Sapsford
After a lifetime in clinical care, it is exceptional for the death of a colleague to make me weep. Rob's loss did that.
We didn't work together: he saw me as a patient, saw my family, and gave great care to a very close friend. The attention he brought to each of us was so focussed and personal we all felt he was also a friend. Rob understood that the vocation of medicine is not solely a technical but a human exercise, centred around care, respect and kindness. What a man.
