Rob’s cheery manner, ready smile and gentle (sometimes wicked) humour while downing our morning coffees would brighten the day. When an incisive and decisive opinion was needed over a patient, he would give it and always with grace (and usually some banter). Later, as his patient, I saw just why his patients and immediate colleagues held him in such high regard. Generous with his time (and his tiffin) he gave prompt and sound advice in his authoritative and typically warm, compassionate manner.
